Aturan Gramatika: Kata Sifat (Adjective)
Adjectives adalah kata-kata yang mengambarkan atau memodifikasi orang lain atau hal lain dalam kalimat. Articles — a, an, and the — juga merupakan adjectives.
Contoh:
• the tall professor Arti: Profesor yang tinggi itu
• the lugubrious lieutenant Arti: Letnan yang murung
• a solid commitment Arti: Komitmen yang kuat
• a six-year-old child Arti: Seorang anak yang berusia 6 tahun
• a month's pay Arti: Pembayaran sebulan
• the unhappiest, richest man Arti: Pria yang terkaya tapi paling tidak bahagia
Jika sekelompok kata-kata berisi subject dan verb bertindak sebagai adjective, ini disebut Adjective Clause.
Contoh:
My sister, who is much older than I am, is an engineer. Arti: Saudara perempuan saya, yang jauh lebih tua dari saya, adalah seorang insinyur.
Jika adjective clause dihapus subject dan verbnya, modifier yang dihasilkan menjadi Adjective Phrase:
Contoh:
He is the man who is keeping my family in the poor house. Arti: Dia adalah laki-laki yang menjaga keluarga saya di rumah yang miskin.
Still Rendra
Upon his return from the United States with a deep appreciation for the power and pleasure of theater, Rendra then formed ‘a theatre collective’ in 1967, which he called Bengkel Teater, ‘ Theatre Workshop’. Over the next eleven years, Rendra transformed the face of Indonesian modern theatre. He wrote and directed the plays such as Bip-Bop (1968), the first work in the genre of theatre of minimal text (teater mini kata), and the powerful protest dramas Mastodon and Condor (1973), the struggle of the Naga Tribe (1974), and Regional Secretary (1976). His plays during this time presented some pointed critiques of corruption, political repression, and the destruction of the environment. The most important place for his theatrical work during this time was Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), the arts center in Jakarta, This place was established by Ali Sadikin, the anti-communist, anti-Soeharto governor of Jakarta, and a group of like-minded artists in 1968.
The cultural politics of Indonesia shifted during the mid-1970’s, and in 1978 Rendra found himself without political support for his work. Rendra was imprisoned under suspicion of subversion, and spent much of the next decade being interrogated and going through cycles of imprisonment and release.
Rendra returned to theatre in 1986, coinciding with (bersamaan dengan) a national effort to create more openness and allow room for divergent (berbeda) opinions. His first production was a new play entitled Panembahan Reso (Baron Reso). It was the first large-scale theatre work of the New Order to deal with the theme of succession. The play has been criticized, however, for its dramatic incoherency (ketidak-terkaitan) and structural looseness (kelonggaran). Some critics (kritikus) have found Baron Reso and Rendra’s subsequent theatrical work of the 1980’s and 1990’s to be less hurtful than his earlier dramas.
